Many thanks to the committee and officers as well as exhibitors of the BSDA Club Open show, who all made my day very enjoyable. The rain which threatened all morning, only came about halfway through the bitch classes, but in spite of it, we remained outside and completed judging in good time. I found dogs to be superior in depth of quality to the bitches. All exhibits were excellent in temperament, all had either scissor or level bites, which are allowed.
Although I did take notes on the first two dogs, by the time I got to the bitch classes, with the rain falling, I am afraid that some of the pages are almost unreadable, so I will try and decipher what I can, but the report on them may not be as complete as the dogs, as a result. We did try many different pens and even a marker, but I guess I had better start packing a pencil for outdoor shows!
1st - Herkes' - Colzeta Imlad.
Promising youngster with VG shape, head
developing well, VG ears, eyes and parallelism. VG front, correct topline,
although he has quite a hunk of hair over his rear that needs to be thinned out
a bit, as he can appear ‘lumpy’ in that area. Matching back angulation with
rear, excellent tail. Needs more time to come along in movement, and coat is a
shade soft, but most promising. Best Puppy
2nd - Manners' - Minka Marshall Scorch.
VG eyes, ears well placed but a shade tall
for me, has VG length to head, with moderate stop, OK front, body needs more
time to drop and develop. Topline not as strong as class winner. Has VG rear and
side gait but not as free and true in the front as class winner. Preferred his
overall balance of height to length over number 3.

2nd - Such's - Norlyght Z'Ha'Dum.
Very sound construction overall, so good to
go over. Excellent bone, VG front standing but not so positive on the move with
pasterns. Rather longer cast in body than desired. Head is very mature already
with fairly broad skull, hope it doesn‘t develop any more. Eye shape is good but
colour could be darker. Excellent coat for texture and density.
3rd - Hall's - Xanova du Legolas.
1st - Slater's - Corsini Don Giovanni at Protegimus JW.
Just out of junior with typical outline and
look. Balanced overall square dog with VG leg length to body proportions plus
having elegance. Good front angulation. Head of VG length, VG parallelism, ears
well used, but are a bit wide set. Eye shape is VG but colour could be darker.
VG neck for length, set on and shape. OK front, moved briskly.
2nd - Grainger's - Kirstavin Hamsah.
A different type being heavier throughout,
but still is fairly balanced and good to go over with excellent bone and feet.
Rather open angulation in front which affected his movement. Head is rather
broad in skull, but has VG length to muzzle. Ears a shade tall but well set and
used. VG side gait.
3rd - Hall's - Ekusen Hyperion.

Grey youngster. Yes I know he is out of coat,
but he caught my eye as he came in for his overall balance and proportion.
Nothing is exaggerated about this medium sized dog. Most typical for outline,
balance, shape and style, using his neck to advantage and thus giving him the
proud elegant look. VG length to muzzle, flat skull, correct mask, ears well set
but a shade tall. VG front and rear. Correct topline which he held at all times.
Excellent tail and was the best dog here on the day to show the desired light
typical and true brisk action that was free and even as well. Excellent quality.
Best Dog, Best of Breed, RBIS/BOS in show as determined by the BIS judge
Cathy Bird.
2nd - Fisher, McLaren & Bartrip's - Corsini Troubador JW.
2 yr old whose lack of neck unfortunately
spoiled the overall effect on an otherwise very nice dog. Vg body with desired
square outline, VG bone but feet need attention. Excellent coat texture but
another not in full coat. Ears well set and used.
3rd - Pack's - Corsini Quadrille.
Several dogs had noticeably short necks.
1st - Cooper's - Ch. Domburg Rock DJ of Zantal.
Not quite 2, so time to still develop, but
lovely head of that there is no doubt. The best ears in the entire entry for
size and set on. On the stack presents a wonderful picture of elegance, having
lovely balance and proportions but still with sufficient substance. Another one
whose coat is still yet to come into its prime. Excellent head properties for
parallelism, length of muzzle and neck, has VG mask and VG overlay on body coat.
VG front and rear angulation, Excellent bone but needs to tighten in pasterns.
Excellent topline and tail, but disappointed on the move. I am well aware in the
challenge for Reserve Best of Breed that the Best bitch moved better than he,
but his overall shape, presence and look could not be denied. Excellent
quality. Reserve Best Dog /Reserve Best of Breed.
2nd - Such's - Nosregor Hurrican George of Norlyght JW.
5 yr old mature male with excellent
construction. Dark oval eyes, probably the darkest seen today! Ears well used
but a shade tall and a bit wide set. Excellent neck and forequarters and is very
free and even on the move. Excellent coat for density and texture, but having
too much overlay. Head is rather heavy, preferred the elegance of #1.

1st - Fisher's - Ch. Corsini Jaguar.
8 yr old grey male with excellent outline,
being well proportioned. Beautiful head properties, ears so well used and set.
Eyes dark and oval, excellent length to muzzle, correct parallelism. Vg topline
and tail. Front is not at its best, being wide and also a bit down in pasterns,
feet need attention and this affected movement. Still, I rate him Excellent and
made him Best Veteran Dog, Best Veteran in Breed.
2nd - Such's - Ch. Norlyght Worf.
Not as square, being longer cast in loin.
Masculine and proud bearing, but for me heavy in head both in skull width and
depth. Excellent conformation as usual from this kennel and resulted in correct
movement.
1st - Grainger's - Romeo William of Timberhall.
You could have knocked me over with a feather
to find out this lad is all of 14 years, he carries it so well and has so many
teeth with correct bite as well!! Castrated dog with typical outline. Coat still
VG for colour, texture and density. Dark oval eyes, ears well used. Excellent
mouth. Recovering from an injury to front foot, but still gave good account of
himself around the ring on the move.
1st - Davies' - Colzeta In Dreams.
If I had to choose one to take home it would
be this girl. She is going to be something very special I think! Excellent body
for shape and development, love her beautiful head with its very feminine
expression, having sufficient length to muzzle, excellent eyes, correct masking,
ears well used and set and VG parallelism. Excellent neck, legs and feet, VG
to go over , correct topline and tail. Just needs to come together on the move,
but I saw flashes of excellent movement. Most Promising. Best Puppy Bitch,
Best Puppy in Breed.
2nd - McIlherene's - Norlyght Lady Ladira at Xelbi.
Excellent feminine expression, but is a
shade longer in body than class winner. Very dark eye, ears well placed and
used, Good muzzle length, Good neck and VG tail. Excellent tail and correct
mask. Coat is developing well for her age,
3rd - Uggelberg's - Cultlea Ghleann Mohr.
Absent.
1st - Wright & Ralph's - Bonvivant Frisson.
A bit longer in body and needs a shade more
leg to balance. Won on her construction and movement. Well placed ears but a bit
on the large size. VG mask, oval eyes, VG parallelism. Wide in front and down a
bit in pasterns.
2nd - Hatcher's - Kelluki Angelic Whisper.
Tall grey bitch with rather large ears but
they are well placed and used. Eyes could be more oval. Has VG length to muzzle.
Square body shape but rather open angled in front with moderate rear. Not as
free in action as class winner.
3rd - Sharp & Moslin's - Bonvivant Gaia.
Res - Wright's - Bonvivant Galadriel.
Vhc - Bailey's - Charbonny Sometimes.
1st - King's - Bonvivant Destiny for Grizwold.
Very sound bitch with excellent movement. VG
length to head, Excellent ear placement. Lovely dark eye. Ok front angulation,
but had sufficient neck length. VG coat, topline, tail. Reserve Best Bitch.
2nd - Rowe's - Lebeau Fire Dancer.
Quite typey outline and balance but not
length of muzzle for head to match length of skull. Very dark oval eyes,
moderate ears for size and length but could be higher set. Very nice body and
coat. OK rear but too wide in the front and this reflected in front angulation
and movement.
3rd - Hatcher's - Xanova True Love.
Res - Walker-Smith's - Bonvivant Deja Vu.
Vhc - Matthews' - Jenfall Musical Carousel.
1st - Pratten & Brown's - Bergeau Just Like A Rainbow JW.
Almost 4 years with correct mask, but would
like more overlay on body coat. Excellent outline for balance and proportions.
Typey head and expression. Correct mask. Oval eyes but could be darker. Ears
well set and used. Excellent neck and VG front with matching rear angulation.
Level topline, tail a bit short. Excellent movement and always alert. Excellent
quality overall. Best Bitch.
By now the rain was quite persistent and my notes are even more sketchy.
1st - Pratten's - Bergeau Zinfandel.
Has VG outline and balance, excellent neck,
topline front and rear angulation. Best Veteran Bitch.
2nd - King's - Grizwold Dusky Maiden.
Excellent mouth for age. Front not as
pleasing as class winner. Sound mover.
1st - Grainger's - Timberhall Proud Princess.
Nearly12 years. Still typical head and
expression. Dark eyes, excellent ears and mouth. VG front and still moves well.
2nd - Pratten's - Ch. Charbonny Hedda.
Almost 14 years old and still can move out
well. Head properties are now starting to show her age, but her conformation is
still VG. VG body still well muscled and moved well..
